All-American guard RJ Davis took a page out of North Carolina legend Michael Jordan’s playbook to announce he will play a fifth season with the Tar Heels.
“I’m back,” Davis posted Wednesday on Instagram, the same two-word message Jordan famously faxed to announce his return to the NBA in 1995.
Davis was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year in 2023-24 after averaging 21.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 37 starts for the Tar Heels.
He has played in 138 games (118 starts) for UNC, averaging 15.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists and shooting 37.2 percent from 3-point range.
Davis eclipsed the 2,000-point mark last season and sits fifth on the school’s all-time scoring list with 2,088 points. He has a shot to pass Tyler Hansbrough (2,872 points) as the top scorer in North Carolina and ACC history.
